Customer Support Service

Quality and Food Safety are fundamental concerns and represent a serious commitment on the part of the company. An extensive team of professionals specifically dedicated to monitoring product quality and safety carry out periodic audits and tests, both internally and in external laboratories. At the same time, the need to control more closely the process of preparing products up to the point of delivery to stores, led Sonae to set up specialised production centres.

Currently, the company has three such centres with the latest equipment, thus complying with the most demanding standards of hygiene and safety in the agriculture and food industry, as well as ensuring rigorous standards of control of quality and selection of products.

The set up of these units marks another decisive step towards satisfying the customer.


Specialist centres
  • Meat Processing Centre - Located in Santarém, the centre’s activity involves receiving, cutting, slicing and then packaging, under controlled atmospheric conditions, beef, pork, lamb and goat’s meat.

  • Bakery Centre - Located in Porto, its objective is to supply all stores that do not produce their own produce with fresh bread, pastry products and biscuits.

  • Fish Distribution Centre - Located in Santarém, it supplies all Sonae food retail stores in mainland Portugal, ensuring the best conditions for product storage and transport, as well as product tracking and quality control.
