As part of the ME310 Product Innovation Programme at Stanford University, Sonae challenged students from a group of academic partners to participate in an open innovation initiative aimed at meeting the challenges posed by Berg Cycles and Worten, outdoor/cycling brands and consumer home appliances and electronics from Sonae. The initiative is part of Sonaeā€™s open innovation policy, which aims to foster knowledge through collaboration and cooperation with the academic and the scientific community. 
  • Involvement of 3 academic institutions - Porto Design Factory, University of Modena and Reggio Emilia and the University of Swinburne;
  • Participation of 13 students;
  • As a result, participants developed 2 prototypes: an urban bike for Berg Cycles and a device for the remote management and monitoring of home appliances and electronic equipment for Worten, which were presented in the United States and Portugal.
